Elopements

An elopement is a wedding with two main characters only: the bride and the groom. Literally, elopement means “to run away secretly, especially to get married”, and that’s just what it was in the past: couples whose families didn’t approve of the wedding used to elope, in secrecy, so that they could get married and start a family. So, the tradition of elopement weddings stems from forbidden love… could anything be more romantic?! Nowadays, elopements are the “romantic escape” (or memorable honeymoon) of a couple in love who chooses to get married with just an officiant and two witnesses, or with a very limited number of guests. This type of celebration, at times symbolic, is perfect for those who prefer an intimate and cozy ambiance to the “big white wedding”. Elopements are, however, exclusive and attentively planned in every single detail, starting with the destination. The bride and groom often choose a faraway, exotic destination where they can enjoy a fulfilling travel experience and crown their dream by getting married. The photo shoot is just as memorable: gorgeous scenery and breathtaking vistas everywhere! This type of wedding allows the couple to avoid all the logistics and red tape they’d have to face if they held a traditional wedding, and planning it is quicker too. Italy, fascinating and seductive, is a top destination for elopements, especially Tuscany, which is a veritable treasure chest of idyllic landscapes. There’s Val D’Orcia, with its magical hills that roll one into the other like the verses of a poem, or the graceful stately cypresses that lead the bride and groom up into charming Bolgheri, and then again the Caribbean-like colors of the sea and enchanted sunsets of the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago… Simply irresistible.
